"A Day In The Life [of me]"

These still photo sequences and moving images (GIF images) were created in Adobe Photoshop with the use of a GoPro HERO2 camera.  I used Photoshop to put all of the motion captured in several different images into a single still.  In the case of the the moving images, I used Adobe After Effects to import the film and extract individual frames to create a GIF in Photoshop.  I chose to use 0;00;00;15 increments for portions of the image that require less attention to detail, while using 0;00;00;02 increments for those portions that did.  I created two separate GIF images; one at 6fps and the other at 24fps.
I chose to create these images because they represent a significant part of my life.  Skateboarding, just as guitar, snowboarding, sailing and various other activities keep my mind and body active, productive, clear and level.  Without these things my life would lack substance and worth.  Every individual has their own release, and this is one of many that I am happy to call my own.

Final Project Proposal

I would like to create a GIF image of a quick run through a skate park using a GoProHD camera, as well as creating a sequence image of the same run, but from a different angle.  This subject matter interests me because whenever I get a chance or some free time I usually choose to fill that time with either fishing or skateboarding.  I imagine I will just use the default paper when printing because using another media wouldn't do anything for my piece conceptually.

Assignment 4: Muybridge

NASCAR circa 1864

I began this project lacking any conceptual idea whatsoever, and I don't believe it has one yet.  I just chose to create a Muybridge sequence that was amusing to me, so I decided to animate concrete barriers into each frame, all of which depict NASCAR logos and sponsors.  I also animated a racing helmet on to the riders head to add to the NASCAR depiction.  It doesn't really portray or present a topic or message, but was more or less a break from a structured project where I could play with different options and tools on Photoshop.

Assignment 3: Mapping

With this assignment, I chose to use an application that tracks my location using Google maps on my phone.  These are my movements over the course of one day, and the image moves from the "big picture" to a more detailed depiction of my movements around a single household.  I believe it is a good representation of mapping not only because it uses satellite mapping imagery, but it also shows the movement of the subject across the physical space over time which can be monitored in the deterioration of battery life and the change of the current time at the top of each frame.

Visual Complexity

Moritz Stefaner created a piece that mapped New Yorker's movements, either from New York to another location or to another location within the city.  I think its an interesting topic to explore, but I would like to explore this style in a different manner.  I would like to map my own movements over time rather than map others and see the similarities between the two.
