With this assignment, I chose to use an application that tracks my location using Google maps on my phone. These are my movements over the course of one day, and the image moves from the "big picture" to a more detailed depiction of my movements around a single household. I believe it is a good representation of mapping not only because it uses satellite mapping imagery, but it also shows the movement of the subject across the physical space over time which can be monitored in the deterioration of battery life and the change of the current time at the top of each frame.
GIF! awesome, it looks like it might be zooming into your house, or maybe showing different locations you are thru the day. either way, i think its pretty cool.

ReplyDeleteWhen I view this, I know I am zooming in to an important location or spot...although the location stays centered, the areas around it change, adding visual variety...The speed and rapid pace of the animation yields a feeling of energy, exciting, but also anxiety. Because of the multiple frames, I know that time is passing.
ReplyDeleteI really like this. It makes me think about all the places I see in a day. It's like the starred pinpoint is me and this is following my day. It seems like it could apply to anything. And I agree with Natalia.. I love that it moves!
